Who knew we would be haul people!
Before we started our blog, we would commonly shop until we dropped, but we never had any reason to share our findings as we were always too busy ripping the packaging open before we had the opportunity to say “haul.” Hauls may be a guilty pleasure for many, but I never understood them until this very moment that I’m typing this blog post.
Why is this haul so important, you ask?
This is our first Christmas haul ever! It may not sound that interesting, but for Hannah and I, it’s the start of many decor hauls. Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. I have a lot of ups and downs throughout the year but around this time of year, those downs don’t seem so down and those ups just feel even better than usual. It’s truly a feel-good time of year for me.
Here’s some background on our Christmas past.
I grew up in a fairly large family. I have two older sisters in their 30’s and one older brother, also in his 30’s. However, I also have a niece and a nephew who are extremely close to my age, so I like to say that I have 5 siblings in total. My family is close-knit, so the holidays were always our favorite time of the year to laugh, sing, and share time together. Christmas was always a holiday where we would make the best memories, and we continue this tradition to this day.
Hannah comes from a close-knit family as well.
Her previous Christmas years were spent with her parents as well as her two younger sisters. Hannah enjoys Christmas, but when we met, she was more ehh about it (she’s more of a Halloween kind of gal.) Many of our earlier conversations about Christmas involved me being in complete shock that Christmas wasn’t her favorite Holiday. Like how dare she say that! Luckily, it wasn’t a deal breaker for me, and I can say with confidence that her new favorite holiday is Christmas! clap with me y’all.
We found some sweet Christmas decor items for a sweet price.
Our Christmas haul is filled with affordable finds from some of our favorite stores including Ross, Big Lots, and Target. As this is our first Christmas in our apartment, we started from nothing, literally. We had to find all of our Christmas decor wants without breaking the bank. I have to admit, before taking on this challenge, Hannah and I were freaking out about how we would make this possible. We wanted so many things and we weren’t sure how we would get them while staying on budget. Let me tell you guys, we had to dust our shoulders off and give each other a high five once we got everything on our decor shopping list.
Our Shopping List
- Christmas Tree
- At least 75 tree ornaments
- Clear tree lights
- 2 stockings
- A centerpiece for our kitchen table
- 2-4 pillows
- Christmas mugs
- Tree topper
- Christmas wreath
- Tree skirt
Note: this shopping list is only intended to cover our basic decor needs.
