Thank you to CCRM (Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine) for sponsoring this blog post!
We have each individually always wanted to start a family. Ariana and I met three years ago at twenty-one and nineteen. Neither of us were by any means looking for a life partner or the future mother of our children, yet here we are!
We both love kids.
I (Hannah) have been caring for children since I was a child myself, and I worked as a professional caregiver throughout college. Ariana is the youngest of her siblings and helped raise her nieces and nephews throughout her adolescence and adulthood. Having a family together has never been a question.
Being lesbians, the privilege of having a family with each other is one that we have to seek out.
Furthermore, I’ve spoken about my PCOS before, which is a condition which affects my ovaries and therefore my fertility. These are just a few reasons why we are so thrilled that there are centers like CCRM that are delivering incredible family planning, fertility, and reproductive health services to the LGBTQ+ community.
CCRM (Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine) is dedicated to delivering leading patient outcomes for people who want to have a baby, and their industry-leading approach to fertility research and treatment offers prospective parents the fastest path to the healthiest baby. They are the industry’s leader in fertility science, research and advancement, offering access to a national network of award-winning physicians, a full suite of fertility services, innovative technology and cutting-edge labs.
Unlike many other fertility clinics that outsource their specialists and testing needs, CCRM leverages its own data, as well as a dedicated team of in-house reproductive endocrinologists, embryologists and geneticists in order to deliver consistent, successful results. Specifically, CCRM has some of the highest IVF success rates in the industry! It takes the average patient at CCRM 1.2 IVF cycles to get pregnant (versus the national average at 1.6*).
National average is based on 2016 SART data. Consolidated CCRM Network data is tracked and reported by CCRM, including the following locations: CCRM, CCRM MN, CCRM OC, CCRM Toronto, Houston IVF, CCRM NY, CCRM Atlanta
CCRM is a proud supporter of the LGBTQ+ community through their work – helping same sex and transgender individuals and couples create the family of their dreams!
As CCRM CEO Jon Pardew says, “No one should be barred from starting a family and CCRM is committed to expanding our programs, including providing ongoing staff training, to meet the unique needs of all members of the LGBTQ community.”
Specifically, same-sex and transgender couples face unique fertility circumstances, and often must choose from a wide array of reproductive options, which is why we love that CCRM’s services include IUI or IVF with donor sperm, egg donation and gestational carrier services. Their mission is to ensure that anyone who wants a baby is able to have one. This mission is furthered by their partnership with Family Equality Council(FEC),a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing full legal and lived equality for LGBTQ+ families.
As a young lesbian couple, we are so excited and happy to see this type of action and support for such an important aspect of LGBTQ+ relationships – the choice of having a family.
According to a recent survey, 48 percent of LGBTQ Millennials are actively planning to grow their families, compared to 55 percent of non-LGBTQ Millennials. Thankfully, this gap has narrowed significantly in comparison to older generations. CCRM has made its mark in terms of inclusivity and ensuring that LGBTQ+ couples and individuals have access to having children.
As we will be navigating on our own journey to fertility and pregnancy in the near future, we are so happy to know that CCRM is an industry leading provider of family building who prioritizes and celebrates the LGBTQ+ community. It is so profoundly reassuring to know that there is a place where we can get the best options for our future family as well as equal treatment as a lesbian couple.
