Palm Springs is Instagram heaven.
The colorful little town is full of aesthetic vintage architecture, cute cacti, and brightly painted walls and doors that just beg to be captured for social media. While we did our fair share of enjoying the moment, unplugging, and relaxing during our trip, we also ran around the city with our camera for this purpose. Without further ado, here is our Palm Springs Instagram Guide – Color Edition. Enjoy!
Stop #1. The Pink Door
It wouldn’t be a true Palm Springs Instagram Guide if we didn’t feature the famous Pink Door. Located at 1100 E Sierra Way, Palm Springs, CA 92264, this every day mid-century home features a gigantic, bubblegum colored front door that has brought widespread attention to the address. If you’re in the area, it just wouldn’t be right to miss out on such an easy and pretty photo op.
This door is just one of many of the brightly colored architectural accessories that adorn Palm Springs neighborhoods.
If you drive around the streets surrounding the downtown strip, you’ll see many more instagrammable doors and gates, like this turquoise gem we found nearby.
Stop #2. Robo Lights Sculpture Garden
Speaking of bright, we stumbled across this quirky house located at 1077 E. Granvia Valmonte, Palm Springs, CA. Its official name is the Robo Lights Sculpture Garden of Palm Springs. Now, I see that this house is just as famous as our first stop. However, when we stumbled across this rainbow spectacle in an otherwise typical neighborhood, Ariana and I were a little shook. Even in broad daylight, this Science Fiction meets technicolor horror movie exhibit is pretty creepy. Luckily, I love creepy and demanded to stop to take pictures before we heard a loud noise and drove away frantically.
It may not be #trendy, but it’s still super cool.
So if your aesthetic is less ‘pretty and pastel’ and more ‘paint vomit transformers’, this is the stop for you. My only regret is that we didn’t schedule a tour. Apparently, there is a phone number at the main gate; if you’re headed to Palm Springs, don’t miss out like I did!
Stop #3: The Saguaro Hotel
This is another Palm Springs photo essential. The Saguaro Hotel is famous for its rainbow… well, everything. Every literal inch of this place has color: from the back walls to the sign in front, even the room doors are bright.
There are so many opportunities for that perfect aesthetic picture it’s laughable.
With so many cute elements to take pictures of, we couldn’t resist capturing them all. My favorite features were these monochromatic, stained glass walls around the sides and back of the hotel. I love bold, solid colors, especially for an Instagram feed.
And don’t forget the doors!
Like everything else in Palm Springs, brightly painted doors are a fun detail of the hotel. I love these close-up photos of the room doors. They’re a cute little series that fits in with the rainbow theme of the hotel and Palm Springs itself.
If you’re in the LA or Southern California area like us, Palm Springs is a great day or weekend trip. We had so much fun photographing the town while we were there, and we’ll definitely be back for all the things we missed! If you’re headed there, make your Instagram bucket list in advance so you can capture all the beauty and color of Palm Springs, California.
