Let’s get right to the tea…
We all know there are some atrocious looking Christmas sweaters out there. I mean, just painful to look at. What probably started as a fun joke somewhere out there in the world, has now been a yearly tradition for many office parties, homes, and yes, now us. We don’t know the history behind the ugly Christmas sweater trend, so don’t take our word for it.
We feel a bit shameful for being suckered into this trend.
Okay, we don’t feel shame about gushing over how cute an ugly sweater is, but how dreadful we originally thought it to be years ago, only to come back around screaming “yassss” at the same dang sweater! Like who are we? Our original issue with ugly Christmas sweaters were, even while wearing something thats marketed as “ugly”, we still want to look and feel cute. Who doesn’t? though, lets be real.
We found these sweaters at Forever 21!
In October, we had already decided to give this ugly Christmas sweaters thing a try. Hannah and I have never owned an ugly Christmas sweater and they didn’t appeal to us as much last year. However, a lot has changed for us this year, which has led us to rethink our traditions as well as make some of our own as a couple. You guys already know whats coming, one of those traditions will be ugly Christmas sweaters!
Although we had planned on trying out ugly Christmas sweaters this year, being the people that we are, we waited until the very last minute to search for one we each could live with. We were brainstorming one day about where we could easily go and pick one up. We tried all of our local thrift stores to no avail, and ended up wandering into Forever 21 and finding an entire section dedicated to Christmas sweaters!
These Christmas sweaters aren’t really “ugly.”
We do realize that there are some ugly sweaters out there that blow our sweaters right out of the water. That’s honestly okay because we know ours walk the line of cute and ugly. The whole point of the ugly Christmas sweater tradition is to have fun. These sweaters made us laugh and brought us even more holiday cheer. I’m sure ugly Christmas sweaters bring joy to many people around the world, and if a sweater can cause this much joy, sign us up every time!
